Why Public Domain Poetry?
There is a heritage, deep and wide, in the world of poetry. A good deal of it requires permission to reprint, and we always ask permission when we publish modern poetry in Every Day Poems—or when we include such poems in books like our popular how-to-trio:
But then there are the older poems, many of which are still worth a read. Maybe they aren’t the style we’ve come to expect, but that is precisely why they can be wonderful to delve into. It’s like traveling back in time. The sights, the sounds, the textures, the sensibilities.
So take your time. And do a little travel. With this curated collection of public domain poetry.

These “basic” libraries generally feature poems only. Though, you may find the occasional picture when we just couldn’t resist. (Like the really cool old photo we found of the original ship in the poem The Good Ship “Ohio”!)
