Announcing a New Book! — Sadbook Collections 3

By T.S. Poetry Leave a Comment

sadbook collections comic strip with easter eggs
It’s that time of year, when Sadbook ventures onto the printed page—after living in a digital world for the previous 365 days (or so).

The Sadbook Collections is a (mostly) daily comic that plays primarily at sadbook.substack.com. Drawn (and loved) by Sara Barkat, little Sadbook has a big heart—filled with musings, whimsy, sometimes puzzlement, occasional crises, and always art.

Sadbook Collections 3 Front Cover

As you might guess, the origin story of The Sadbook Collections began with sorrow. Sadbook was born at a difficult moment, but very quickly took on a vibrant and often happy life. That’s the power of art. It sustains you when you face the abyss. It can transform sorrow and create a certain kind of magic that no one can take away from you.

The intrepid Sadbook has come to the page again in The Sadbook Collections—Book 3. Curious and philosophical as ever, Sadbook is ready to make your day.

Join the party.

Have some cake.

And maybe pick up a copy for yourself or for a friend who needs a smile.

About the Illustrator, Sara Barkat

Sara Barkat is the author of the indie excellence awards finalist collection The Shivering Ground & Other Stories and illustrator of The Colour out of Space: A Graphic Novel and The Yellow Wall-Paper: A Graphic Novel. Of course, she also draws Sadbook on a (mostly) daily basis at sadbook.substack.com. You can also visit the artist at sarabarkat.com

Before the Cover, the Comic!

Occasionally the illustrator colors her otherwise minimalist drawings.

But this year, she had not previously colored Rainy Sunny Day.

Somehow that sky and those mountains seemed to beg for the surreal colors of a Sadbook sunrise despite the rain.

Here’s the comic before the cover…
