Gathering Hope: Baby Robin

Gathering Hope is a column dedicated to finding the sublime, the hopeful, in nature. It’s simple enough. We share a photo or video we’ve come across that you can meditate on to let it wash over you—to build hope into your soul. Today’s photo is “Baby Robin” by Darrelyn Saloom…

    Baby Robin

    What is this cheery song
    that dares to stream
    through my open window
    awakening my half-asleep senses
like the aroma of strong coffee?

I looked into the dim light
and soon found the guilty party
    welcoming the dawn to celebrate
a new day here in this world.

It is just another day …
    but as my tired eyes
    hold this baby robin
    I am gratefully reminded

    everyday can be beautiful
    when we take the time
    to listen and see.

      “awakening my half-asleep senses”

And isn’t that how hope sometimes comes? … A song we don’t hear at first…

      lovely, Kathleen.

Thank you, Bethany. 🙂 I thought that little bird would just last me forever if only I remembered him perched there so cutely.

This photo warmed my heart so much, thank you. I’ve recently wrote a short story on a robin, so a good prompt to return to it. 💖

        Of course!

“Summer the robin, like most days, awoke in her nest. She looked around, everything, just as usual looked the same, to her, nothing seemed to change. Summer, had a yearning to see the world you see, for since she was a young girl, she could feel there was a different place for her, but she didn’t, yet, have the nerve to leave her nest. So, she’d pull herself together and try her best to fit in, be like the other chicks, who for whatever reason, this way of living just seemed to click.”
