Take Your Poet to Work Coloring Book

Now updated with 2016 poets!

_______________________

The year’s biggest gathering of poets in workplaces around the world is coming up soon.

The next Take Your Poet to Work Day is Wednesday, July 20th 2016(always the 3rd Wednesday in July). And frankly, we can’t wait. We’ve been dreaming about all the things our favorite poets will be doing at work: taking our phone calls, leading meetings, mowing the grass, driving trucks, waiting tables, doing lab experiments, and all kinds of other things. We can’t even wait to see them in the break room or chatting by the water cooler.

We have great ways to help you celebrate, including our printable freebie, the Take Your Poet to Work Coloring Book. Our free gift to you, you can download and print out the book, then color and cut out poets to your poetic little heart’s content. Take copies to work. Give them to your coworkers. Pass out poets to your customers. Print coloring pages and leave the on the tables in the cafeteria. Share this page on Facebook and Twitter and invite everyone you know to take their favorite poet to work.

I think I’ll drop a copy off to the folks at Keystone College. They work to hard at necessary but not very fun stuff. They need a little necessary work that comes with Crayons.

I hope this coloring book ends up in the “Teaching Tools” page. They say the act of coloring enhances learning, understanding, and retention. One company (http://www.coloringconcepts.com/) even makes a series of science coloring books used at the college and high school levels. If pre-med students use biology coloring books, then great poets should use this coloring book. 🙂

How about a “Name Your Favorite Poet” contest for poets to be added for next year’s event?
I’d like to suggest Theodore Roethke, my birthday poet.

Joy, do you mean sort of a “nominate your favorite poet” and then we might pick at random from the responses, to help decide who goes into next year’s collection? (So many great poets, so little drawing time! 😉 )

I LOVE these. I’ll be taking Yeats to work today (pics forthcoming).

Next year, I’ll get the whole office involved.
