Poet in a Cupcake Day is celebrated on the Friday of Take Your Poet to School Week, which is the first full week in April. In 2018, that puts Poet in a Cupcake Day on April 6.
How to Celebrate:
Poet in a Cupcake Day is a fun capstone day for Take Your Poet to School Week. Use our Take Your Poet to School Week poets and our summer cut-out poets in the classroom or the home, for a tasty introduction to poetry. As we’ve learned from sharing poetry and tea with the boys, a little confection goes a long way to making encounters with poets and poems fun for people of all ages.
It’s easy to celebrate. Just cut out your poets, color, and put them on popsicle sticks. Insert into your favorite cupcake! Of course, you might like to read a little about your poet before deciding what kind of cupcake might be the best sweet pedestal. And maybe you’d like to read a poem by the poet, too.
Not up for actual sweets? Check out our printable cupcake, that can be cut and colored—ready to put our poets on (or some of their best-known verses).
Of course, there’s always an earth-sweet option, too…
