NYC Meetup: Ruby Garden Dreams 2014

By L.L. Barkat 15 Comments

Brooke Campbell
Ol’ man Simon, planted a diamond,
Grew hisself a garden the likes of none.
Sprouts all growin’, comin’ up glowin’,
Fruit of jewels all shinin’ in the sun.
Colors of the rainbow,
See the sun and rain grow
Sapphires and rubies on ivory vines…

—from Shel Silverstein’s “The Garden”

This is so wonderful! Just so you know, I’m still trying to make the 23rd work for me! Did I mention we were down a vehicle (Black Ice is a cruel master) so even if I could do the drive myself that option is off the table? Would love to find a way in for the final event, though.

Since I can’t come but just read there’s a place called “Alice’s Tea Cup.” Every detail from the menu to the décor captures the magic of Lewis Carol’s timeless classic. The teas and menu items are served with a strong dose of whimsy, as mismatched china and Alice-themed decorations transport diners to the Mad Hater’s tea party. 102 West 73rd St. New York, Nu 212-799 3006 or alicesteacup.com Maybe you can enjoy a cup for me.

I hope the get together is lots of fun. I wish I could be two places at once. I’ll be in Eureka Springs, AR with my wife, Carol, scouting for retirement property and trout fishing on the White River. May is the Arts Festival in Eureka Springs and we will enjoy that a well.
