The Introvert Dilemma
Many of your favorite authors are, quite possibly, introverts. The writing—or writing-drawing—they do is a quiet activity, often done in solitude.
When (happy day!) they get their books published, everything changes. The world is noisy, and they’re asked to step into the fray. This effort can be quite tiring and deplete their ability to create more of what you loved from them in the first place.
What can you do to help your favorite introverted author out? This little series will give you ideas to try.
Ten ways, ten days.
Day 1: The Basic
If you have the means, it’s logical to begin with the basic: buy the book.
If space is limited in your home, you can buy the e-book. Or, consider buying a print copy with the intent to pass it along to a friend when you’re finished.
Once upon a time, we sponsored a fun book-pass-along project. Eventually, we lost track of where the book had landed. But, for quite a while, it was a small adventure, as we’d hear from the next surprise recipient, telling us “I received the book!”
Each recipient along the way penned a greeting to the next, somewhere in the book’s pages, before mailing it out again. Somewhere, somebody has a copy of one of our books with warm and thoughtful greetings—little hand-written treasures within.
Note that for some authors, the pre-order stage is critical for determining their royalty for the life of the book. So don’t wait, if you’re really wanting to help that author out.
That’s it for Day 1: The Basic.
See you soon for Day 2!
