How to Simple-Collage Your Poems

Why Simple-Collage Your Poems?

Bringing the art of collage to your poems is a beautifully creative endeavor—and a unique way to showcase your poems. But you might not always have the time or energy to do a full-fledged collage. Enter the simple-collage method.

How to Simple-Collage Your Poems

Less complex, but still a satisfying way to showcase your poems, simple-collage works best for shorter poetry—and shorter lengths of time that you have available to get artistic. Simple-collage involves a couple of easy steps:

1. Handwrite your poem onto a sheet of scrap paper, leaving enough space between the lines to allow you to cut them out

2. Cut out your lines

3. Find an object that’s readily available—your table cloth, the back of a book, couch or chair tapestry, etc. You will not be gluing anything to this object, so worry not!

4. Place your poem lines on top the object you chose. Add a few loose decorative items next to the background object if you like.

5. Photograph your simple-collage.

Voilà! You’ve just simple-collaged your poem, and it’s ready to share wherever you play on social media, on a blog, or maybe as a loving or fun text to a friend or beloved!

Oh, that’s wonderful, Bethany. 🙂 It was fun to make these simpler works in between trying out more complex collage.
