It’s Take Your Poet to Work Day!

By Will Willingham 4 Comments

All the Poets
It’s hard to explain how these things happen. One minute we’re having an editorial meeting, and the next minute we’re coloring poets and gluing them to Popsicle sticks. Poets both pensive and outspoken, unassuming and bold have made their way to workplaces like offices, classrooms, construction sites, coffee shops and kitchen tables.

This year, the tradition continues with our sixth annual celebration of Take Your Poet to Work Day. We invite you to cut out a poet, pop it on a stick and delight your coworkers, wherever they are.

I used to be a claims adjuster, helping people and insurance companies make sense of loss. Now, I train other folks with ladders and tape measures to go and do likewise. Sometimes, when I’m not scaling small buildings or crunching numbers with my bare hands, I read Keats upside down. My first novel is Adjustments.

Oh, what a happy crowd! (Okay, notwithstanding Yeats and Plath, who seem to be pondering the serious side of the world this morning. And Emily, well, she just looks appropriately doubtful about having to leave the house. 🙂 )

Thanks for working so hard to bring whimsy and smart fun to the world.

Gotta say, “Secure your poet to a stick” was my favorite line.

      Hi Terrianne…

Did you play along? I didn’t have any popsicle sticks–so my poet (Miss Emily) got pinned–to a clothespin. 😉
