Chestnut tree for Anne Frank at Holocaust Memorial Center
About Will Willingham
I used to be a claims adjuster, helping people and insurance companies make sense of loss. Now, I train other folks with ladders and tape measures to go and do likewise. Sometimes, when I’m not scaling small buildings or crunching numbers with my bare hands, I read Keats upside down. My first novel is Adjustments.

Anne Frank’s chestnut tree _ by Billy Evmur
*
This my chosen spot
I may lay me down
gaze can only upward be
filled anew with hope
which blossomed on my chestnut tree
tomorrow I am free.
*
No clouds in my sky
nor shadows troubling me
gracefully glide the the seagulls
silver droplets sparkle
on my chestnut tree
tomorrow I am free
*
As long as this is so
and if my eyes may see
my heart can never be sad
for me the sun is shining
through my chestnut tree
tomorrow I am free.
